Pakistan, Qatar have hailed the partnership as a path to lasting peace and stability in the region.

The United States and Iran have announced that they will cooperate on agreement ending the US-Israel war in Iran, including Israel’s invasion of Lebanon, and reopening the vital Strait of Hormuz – a development welcomed around the world as a solution to the war.

“The deal with the Islamic Republic of Iran is now over,” US President Donald Trump announced Sunday on his Truth Social platform. “Ships of the world, start your engines. Let the fuel flow!”

Kazem Gharibabadi, Iran’s deputy foreign minister, said a broader deal that would affect Iran’s sanctions would be reached during the 60-day suspension.

Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said the deal was to be signed on Friday in Switzerland in what was described as the biggest victory after months of fighting that has killed thousands and sent electricity prices soaring around the world.

Here’s how the world is doing on the deal:

Qatar

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has expressed “appreciation of the determination of both sides of America and Iran and their commitment to move forward to resolve the conflict through dialogue and peaceful means”.

Minister of State Mohammad bin Abdulaziz Al-Khulaifi said he hoped that the agreement “will be of great help in efforts to improve stability and overcome the challenges faced by acting wisely and constructively”.

Pakistan

Sharif praised Washington and Tehran for their “commitment to finding a solution to the conflict” and thanked Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Turkey for their support in reaching the agreement.

Turkey

“I see the agreement reached between the United States and Iran as an important development for peace and stability in our region, and I welcome it,” President Recep Tayyip Erdogan wrote on X.

“As Türkiye, we will continue to support all efforts aimed at establishing peace, stability and stability in our region, and help to find lasting solutions based on dialogue and international law.”

United Nations

Secretary-General Antonio Guterres hailed the agreement as a “critical step” towards a “peaceful settlement of the conflict”.

United Kingdom

Prime Minister Keir Starmer called the agreement a “crucial” step in ending the conflict and said “freedom of navigation must be restored in the Strait of Hormuz” as he pledged to support demining operations if needed.

“For any peace to exist, it is essential that the commitments made, especially regarding Iran’s nuclear program, be firm, concrete and achievable,” Starmer said in a post on X.

“It remains strong and committed to the UK to ensure that Iran does not have nuclear weapons.”

France

President Emmanuel Macron called for the “quick and unrestricted reopening of the Strait of Hormuz”.

“The resumption of maritime transport, without restrictions or tariffs, is essential for the stability and economy of the world,” he said on television.

Macron also said that Paris would support “the efforts of the Lebanese authorities” to restore government control, which he said could guarantee “the stability of Lebanon and the integrity of the country and meet the needs of its people”.
