The former Jordanian soccer star has nominated Morocco to win the 2026 World Cup in America, Canada and Mexico.
Morocco will compete in the 2026 World Cup four years after their historic 2022 World Cup triumph, when they became the first Arab and African team to reach the semi-finals before finishing the tournament in fourth place.
Former Jordanian football star Raafat Ali said in his statements to MBC 1’s “Nadina” program. “If I was forced to pick a champion for the 2026 World Cup, it would be the Arab and it would be the Moroccan national team.”
He added: “The most important thing is to represent and honor the Arabs, and any team or player succeeds in making the Arabs happy. I hope that the Moroccan team will win the World Cup.”
The former Jordanian soccer star also expected Norway to be the surprise team of the tournament and Portugal to be the big team that he predicts will disappoint fans at the World Cup.
Notably, the 2026 World Cup will witness the participation of 8 Arab teams for the first time in history, after increasing the number of participating teams from 32 to 48.
