Morocco star Azedine Ounahi expressed his joy after taking part in Atlas Lions’ qualification for the quarter-finals of the 2026 World Cup.
Morocco sealed their place in the quarter-finals after a well-deserved win over Canada with three unanswered goals from Ounah (double) and Sofiane Rahim.
Onahi said in a conversation with BeIN Sports. “I am very happy that I scored today. It was not easy for us.”
He added: “The Canadian team tried to cause us problems, especially in the first half, but thank God we found solutions.”
He continued. “This is the meeting that will make us grow and develop as well. It’s a match in which we saw that there is no easy match in this tournament, and thank God, the most important thing is qualification.”
Onahi pointed out. “What is the coach’s message at halftime? We tried to find solutions in the second half and we have a staff that works hard and we saw that we finished the match well and we are happy with our qualification.”

In another statement published by Hesport newspaper on its Instagram account, Onahi said: “At halftime we talked together as players and tried to find solutions to change the course of the game.”
He emphasized. “We have a great technical staff who work hard and know exactly what they are doing and we also have an outstanding group of players who are ready to fight and give everything they have on the pitch.”
“There are no easy matches or weak teams in a tournament like the World Cup. Sometimes some people think that everything will be easy or that qualification is guaranteed, but the reality proves that every match requires double focus and effort.”
He concluded. “I would like to thank His Majesty the King for his constant support and encouragement, as well as his advice and guidance, which always drives us forward. I’m also thankful to all the Moroccan fans.”
