The former Barcelona star supports his family’s project
Lionel Messi made his first public appearance since Argentina lost the 2026 World Cup final to Spain (1-0) after he attended a match between his family-run Leones FC in Arroyo Seco, near his hometown of Rosario, on Saturday night.
It was announced on the radio“3 Rosary Chains” In the Argentinian video, Messi can be seen looking out from the stadium balcony wearing a black cap, before smiling and greeting the fans calling for him.

The official page of the radio on the “X” platform wrote: “Messi passed by Arroyo Seco and left a special greeting for Cadena 3. “Lionel Messi was in Arroyo Seco to watch Leonis.”

This is Messi’s first appearance in front of the media since the end of the World Cup, after he returned to Rosario with his family on July 21 to take a break from the spotlight after losing the World Cup final.
Messi’s family founded Leones FC, which is managed by his brother Matias Messi, and currently competes in Argentina’s fourth division (Primera C), while playing its matches at the Antonio Di Giacomo Stadium in Arroyo Seco.
Argentinian media highlighted the visit as the tango legend’s direct support for his family’s football project.
