Former Saudi Arabian football star Hussein Abdel-Ghani has praised the Moroccan national team, believing that it carries the hopes of all Arabs in the 2026 World Cup finals to be held in America, Canada and Mexico.

Morocco will compete in the 2026 World Cup four years after their historic 2022 World Cup triumph, when they became the first Arab and African team to reach the semi-finals before finishing the tournament in fourth place.

Abdel-Ghani said in his statements to MBC 1’s “Nadina” program. “I have a message for the Moroccan national team. “His players must know that all Arabs are counting on them, not just Moroccans.”

He added: “They made us greedy with what they showed in the last World Cup. Their fourth place made us want them a lot, and the hopes we have for them have changed.”

Morocco will play in Group Three at the 2026 World Cup finals alongside the national teams of Brazil, Scotland and Haiti as they begin their World Cup campaign against the Latin nation in the early hours of Sunday.

The Saudi football legend also had words of praise for the Algerian national team, considering that it is similar to the Moroccan national team in having great talent in major world championships.

“The Algerian team has high-level players, just like the Moroccan team, because its players play in the biggest leagues in the world and they have a lot of potential that qualifies them to go far in the World Cup.”

He concluded. “Having the ability to qualify the best third-placed teams opens up an opportunity for teams to go through without a difficult method, even if the teams competing in the group are not easy.”

It is noteworthy that the Algerian national team is in the tenth group of the final stage of the 2026 World Cup, alongside the national teams of Argentina, Austria and Jordan, and the tournament begins next Wednesday at dawn with a confrontation with the world champion.
