Former Saudi football star Ahmed Atif has confirmed that the coach of “Al Hilal” Italian Simone Inzaghi will stay at Al-Zaim next season.
Today, Tuesday, “Al Hilal” club published the team’s preparation program for the new seasonwhich will begin in the Saudi capital of Riyadh next Saturday before traveling to Austria to set up an external camp between July 15 and August 3.
In his statements to the “Dorena Ghair” program of the “Saudi Arabia” TV channel, Atif said: “Al-Hilalians have given Inzaghi full confidence. Until the camp is announced and its date and duration decided, he will remain with the team.”
“I still believe Inzaghi doesn’t fit Al Hilal’s style unless 15 players are changed in the squad to help him implement his style.”
“This is my last chance to join Al Hilal and I believe that the team will remain in the same style as last season and will not change.”
He continued. “There is a difference between Richard Hughes, the new sporting director, and Inzaghi. Hughes brings in players who play in a 4-3-3 system and dominate the ball, unlike Inzaghi who plays directly in transition.”
He concluded. “This will be problematic in terms of conflicting ideas between the coach and the athletic director, and who will give up their ideas to agree with the other.”
Reports have confirmed that Hughes will be in charge of the summer transfer window at Al Hilal, but through his assistants, and that he will officially take over as sporting director after leaving Liverpool next September.
