Why did the referee ignore the dismissal of the Japanese star?

Italian referee Maurizio Mariani ignored the red card shown to one of the players of the Japanese national team during the match against Brazil in the 32nd round of the 2026 World Cup.

Brazil managed to equalize in the 56th minute, after a Samba player made a perfect pass from the left flank to Casemiro, who powerfully smashed the ball into the net to seal the equaliser.
