The elephants turned the tables on the roosters
The Ivory Coast national team won a morally important victory over the host France (2-1) in a friendly match, which was held today, Thursday, at the La Beaujolais stadium in Nantes as part of the preparations for the 2026 World Cup final.
Ivory Coast’s goals came from Gila Douy in the 53rd minute and Amad Diallo in the 84th minute after Ryan Chergy had put France ahead in the 45th minute.
Algeria break the streak of the Netherlands… and repeat the feat of Egypt and Morocco
The meeting witnessed a historic number. Jila Douai became the fifth French-born player to score against the Roosters, joining Jacques Faton (Switzerland), Jamel Belmadi (Algeria), Nicolas Pepe (Côte d’Ivoire) and Wahbi Khazri (Tunisia), according to France’s Stats Foot.
It is noteworthy that Zilla Douy is the brother of France and PSG player Desire Douy.
In the group stage of the World Cup, France will play against another African team, which is Senegal, and Ivory Coast will face the European rival, Germany.
