Manchester City’s Spanish manager Pep Guardiola has decided his future with the team tonight ahead of Saturday night’s FA Cup final against Chelsea at Wembley Stadium.

When asked if his 19 titles with Manchester City represent the definition of greatness, he replied with a laugh: “Yes, without a doubt. 19 titles in 10 years is not bad. Everyone knows that. Even before I left, the trip was truly enjoyable and magical. We won 19 championships and now we are fighting for the 20th title.”

The Spanish coach also commented on the fact that Norwegian Holland has yet to score at Wembley Stadium, jokingly saying: “Oh, really, well… I like these types of questions. Tomorrow he will score. And if it doesn’t happen, don’t ask me anymore.”

Asked if this was his last visit to Wembley Stadium, the Manchester City manager said: “No, never, never. I still have one year left on my contract.”

No time to celebrate!

“I always try to do what I believe in, but sometimes it can happen. At the last game the crowd started chanting for John Stones, so I said: Well, the fans paid for the tickets, so John Stones got to play. That can happen sometimes, but mostly not.”

He added: “You know what’s the hardest thing, tomorrow six players will be completely off the roster, and they won’t even be on the bench. It’s very sad because they helped us a lot to reach the final, but this is football.”

“We’ll finish the match, then have a quick shower and head back to Manchester to bed as we travel to Bournemouth on Monday. Imagine that even if we win, we won’t celebrate. We’ll be straight back to prepare for another final. This is modern football, unfortunately.”

I will not force anyone to stay!

Guardiola also addressed the issue of the departure of players and members of the technical staff, stressing that he respects everyone’s wishes as he said: “When someone decides to leave, I’m not the person who will tell them, ‘You have to stay.’ Every person has his family, dreams and new ambitions, and that should always be respected.”

“The club always does that, and that goes for the players as well. If you’re not happy, you should leave. Go to the sporting director, get an offer from another club and if you want to leave, what’s the point of staying? The same applies to the members of the technical staff.”

“If you have a new dream or a new idea, you should follow it. You should always follow your dreams. You cannot stay in your comfort zone. If you feel that something will make you happier or better, you should go after it, because life is too short.”
