In email, thanks Alex Cora is confident in the future of the Red Sox

Alex Cora is hoping for the best Boston Red SoxEven if he is no longer managing the team.

A copy of which was obtained in an email to the agency on Wednesday mass liveCora expressed gratitude for his time in Boston as both a player and a manager, citing his sudden firing Saturday night despite a poor start to the 2026 season.

“We’re happy to have the time to be full-time parents, that’s true, but we’re disappointed that we’re not done,” Cora wrote.

“I respect the direction the organization is taking. Many talented individuals will help achieve the ultimate goal, another Duck Boat Parade.”

Cora was initially hired by Boston in 2018 and guided the team to a 108-win season and a World Series title in his first year. And since they’ve enjoyed some success, the Red Sox have also had several years, finishing in the AL East in 2023 and ’24.

They found themselves in the same position through the first month-plus of 2026, prompting Red Sox chief baseball officer Craig Breslow to fire Cora in the three-year, $21.75 million extension he signed in July 2024.

Chad Tracy, who was managing Boston’s Triple-A team, replaced Cora on an interim basis. The team is 2-2 under Tracy, including an 8-1 series-ending loss Blue Jays Wednesday in Toronto.

In an email to the company, Cora called it “unique, special and magical”.

“One last thing, keep showing up every day and don’t take the Fenway experience for granted, (you) workplace is the best in the world,” he wrote.
