Italian coach Simone Inzaghi, manager of Al Hilal, has taken a spectacular hit ahead of next Friday’s Guardian of the Two Holy Mosques Cup match against Al Khuloud at Al Enmaa Stadium in Jeddah.
Al-Hilal qualified for the final of the King’s Cup by beating Al-Ahli Jeddah on penalties after a 1-1 draw, while Al-Khulud beat Ittihad Jeddah on penalties after a 2-2 draw as well.
Saudi newspaper Al-Riyadiya reported that Senegalese defender Kalidou Koulibaly, the defender of “Al Hilal”, was left out of Inzaghi’s score in the final match of the King’s Cup.
He added that Koulibaly has not yet recovered from the injury he is suffering from and will also miss Al Hilal’s match against Al Khalij on Tuesday night, which was postponed from round 28 of Saudi Arabia’s Roshen Professional League.
Koulibaly missed the AFC Champions League semi-final against Qatar’s Al Sadd, in addition to missing the league matches between Damascus and Al-Hazm, after picking up the injury in training ahead of the delegation’s trip to Jeddah for the continental tour.
It is noteworthy that “Al-Hilal” defeated “Al-Khulud” last April (6-0) during the meeting of the two teams in the 29th round of the Saudi Arabian League.
Al-Hilal are second in the Saudi League table with 74 points and if they beat Al-Khalij today, they will close the gap to leaders Al-Nasr to just two points.
