The madness of the 94th minute of a thrilling match
A lip-reader has revealed England manager Thomas Tuchel’s words on the touchline as the Three Lions clung to victory over Mexico in the 2026 World Cup round of 16.
England beat Mexico 3-2 at Azteca Stadium England’s best World Cup performance since 1966 in Mexico City on Monday morning.
Tuchel was feeling the pressure as his side, reduced to ten men after Jarel Quansah’s red card, struggled in the closing stages to fend off waves of attacks from the hosts at the famous stadium.
Television cameras caught the England manager’s moment of anger in the 94th minute after a foul on Jude Bellingham, who scored twice for England in the game.
The decision allowed Mexico to quickly launch another attack, which resulted in Tuchel shouting and raising his hands to his head in anger.
For his part, pundit and professional lip-reader Nicola Hickling analyzed Tuchel’s comments as the pressure mounted, as he said, according to the newspaper:Daily Mail:“Oh my god, this is crazy, I need a beer, man!”
The German coach added: “Lord, help me get through this.”
The England team is preparing to meet Norway in the quarter-finals of the 2026 World Cup at dawn next Sunday.
