Added Pep Guardiola, coach of Manchester City Uncertainty over his future with his club, having officially lost the Premier League title for the second consecutive season.
Arsenal clinched the Premier League title after Manchester City were held to a 1-1 draw by Bournemouth on Tuesday night with one round to go.
With 78 points, Manchester City is now second in the Premier League standings, 4 points behind Arsenal, who won the title for the first time in 22 years.
Yesterday, Monday, reports emerged in the English papers that Guardiola will leave Manchester City at the end of the current season after a 10-year journey at the Etihad Castle.
Guardiola commented on this news in a statement given to Sky Sports after the “Bournemouth” game.
“The first person to speak is the president of the club.”
Pep continued his statements. “When the season is over, we will talk and make a decision.”
“I am the happiest person in the world to be in this club. It’s something exceptional.”
It is noteworthy that the English press publications have confirmed that “Manchester City” has agreed with the former coach of “Chelsea” Enzo Maresca to replace Guardiola starting from the new season.
Regarding the “Bournemouth” game, Guardiola explained: “It was a difficult match, we knew it. We lacked vitality and that’s okay. They had 12 days to prepare for this meeting. A team that plays with this vitality, especially the attacking players, will do that.”
“We only had three days to travel and we fought hard. We started the second half strongly with a chance from Nico O’Reilly and an offside goal from Erling Holland that had to be reviewed by VAR. We weren’t impressive enough after that. We scored but it was too late. Of course, that’s how it happened.”
“The players gave their all throughout the season and fought in difficult conditions until the end. We were close. On behalf of Manchester City, I congratulate Arsenal, Mikel Arteta and all members of the coaching staff for the Premier League title they deserved. He put in a lot of effort and worked hard.
