Formula 1 hits the track for the final time before the summer break at one of the most popular venues on the calendar as the world championship battle rolls on at the Hungarian Grand Prix live on Sky Sports.

The 11th round of the season in Budapest is the last race for four weeks and is therefore a key opportunity for competitors to sign off on a high before heading off on their holidays.

Kimi Antonelli will be full of confidence after a superb win in Belgium last time out when his Mercedes team-mate George Russell retired after tangling with Lewis Hamilton on the opening lap.

Antonelli is 45 points ahead of Hamilton and 50 points ahead of Russell in the Drivers’ Championship and could be the driver to beat at the Hungaroring.

But, the track characteristics should suit the Ferrari as there are plenty of corners so don’t rule out Hamilton and Charles Leclerc taking a shot at victory.

McLaren have claimed 1-2 seconds in each of the last two years and the world champions will be hoping their major upgrade package can vault them into the fight ahead.

Hungarian GP Track – Hungaroring

The Hungarian Grand Prix has been on the F1 calendar since 1986 and is one of the most popular events with fans.

It is famous for its tight, twisty nature and has been called ‘Monaco without barriers’ due to the difficulty of overtaking.

However, it has thrown up some classic races over the years, including Michael Schumacher’s incredible tactical victory in 1998, Jenson Button’s maiden victory in 2006, chaotic mixed conditions in 2011 and 2014, and Esteban Ocon’s incredible Inface2020 victory.

Turn one is the main overtaking spot, although the battle often continues into Turn 2 and up the hill into Turn Four. The middle sector is all about mechanical grip and keeping the tires alive in the last few slow corners.

Hungarian GP weather in Budapest

In keeping with much of the European summer so far, dry conditions are expected in Budapest over the weekend, although temperatures, although warm, are not forecast to be as blustery as some other recent events.
