How I Set Up My Website Analytics for Zoom Phones (2026)

Here is the problem. We have two young children at home, and we live in the city in a townhouse that is not very big. This comes with “multiple shared environments” – also known as partially controlled chaos. The room we have called “the office” is not a dedicated work space. I couldn’t live without Zoom and Groups’s unobtrusive features. The dresser is a storage space, as well as an extension our deskwhich usually includes laptops, monitors, laptopswith the various peripherals I’m testing, we also have some malfunctions in the room. Some of them include a play kitchen, play food bins, an entire Duplos box, a play sofa, and other pokey things that are a pain to climb.

Migration is not an option – perhaps, not an easy one. I can close the blinds, but that’s where my 5-year-old shows off his Lego designs. And that leaves me alone with the terrible lighting of the ceiling – which is behind me. It’s a mixed bag, and I’m sure some of you can relate to the weaknesses it creates.

I’m back to shopping for webcams. After all, an external webcam doesn’t have to fit all of its features into a small camera section that is squeezed onto the top of the screen. Maybe it’s wrong to expect a lot from small laptop cameras at first. I collected Any webcam possible I was able to find it. There are many options out there, from cheap 1080p cameras to spending hundreds of dollars on 4K options with AI features. But I wasn’t too worried about things like resolution, megapixels, aperture, and shape, and I just found myself wanting to fix the problems I was dealing with in my office.

Light, Camera, Work

Almost all of the dozen or so cameras I’ve tested looked good with the right lighting. I spent a while working in another room near the window, and the upgrade of the external camera felt necessary. With all that light to use, the high-end cameras with a large 1/1.3-inch image did a good job. It didn’t need to broadcast natural light to get more detail on my face, showing more shadows and highlights. Having natural light in the room improved almost every camera I tested, but it also shows how powerful some high-end cameras are, such as Insta360 Link 2C Pro or Obsbot Tiny 3. This is what most webcams are tested on, leaving them all looking more or less adequate.
