The Premier League’s two-horse race in the middle Arsenal and Manchester City crunch time has come, as the 2025-26 season heads into its final week.
The two teams have two games left – Arsenal in action on Monday, City in action on Tuesday, then both go into the final matchday next Sunday, May 24.

So, what does each club have to do to win the title in the final two?
How are the Premier League winners decided?
The team with the most points at the end of the season wins the title.
However, if the clubs finish on the same points, the winners are determined by goal difference.
If their goal difference is the same, then it goes to goals scored, then to the team with the most points in the head-to-head, then to the team with the most travel goals in the head-to-head games.
Arsenal’s run
The league leaders are two points ahead of Man City, so if the Gunners win their last two games, they will claim the Premier League title for the first time in 22 years.
However, Man City are currently one goal ahead on goal difference and could still clinch the title if Mikel Arteta’s side slip up. City also have the advantage in terms of goals scored – 75 to 68 going into the last two games.
City also have an excellent record in the league this season beat Arsenal 2-1 at home in April and drew 1-1 at the Emirates in September.
On paper, Arsenal’s run looks easier than City’s with the Gunners facing already relegated Burnley at home and a trip to a defenseless 15th-placed Crystal Palace side with an eye on their Europa Conference League final against Rayo Vallecano on May 27.

Man City won
City need to win all their last games and hope that Arsenal will go down. They will also be looking to increase the goal difference if the teams finish level on points.
If Arsenal win on Monday and City fail to win on Tuesday, then the Gunners will take the title.
Pep Guardiola’s side look to have strong momentum as they travel to Bournemouth, who are chasing Champions League qualification.
They will also face Aston Villa, who are fierce rivals but have already secured next season’s Champions League qualification and will likely be tired and grumpy after playing in the Europa League final against Freiburg on Wednesday, May 20.

What did Arteta say?
The Arsenal boss has said he wants to put Burnley to the sword to increase the Gunners’ goal difference.
“First, we have to earn the right to win the game. To change with more goals, even better,” Arteta told reporters on Thursday.
“We had a very difficult game against West Ham (last weekend). We won, and it was exciting, but we know that scoring goals has to be important.”
He also said, “The team is real. It’s living in the moment. It’s mentally healthy. Its energy is right.”
What did Guardiola say?
The City manager said the only thing his team can do is “stay alive” and he believes Arsenal will pull it off.
“When they win two games, there’s nothing to do, nothing to say,” Guardiola told the BBC earlier this week. “What we can be in there is if it can be done. The last two games are difficult.”
