Hot match… Al-Faisal scolds the Saudi players after the quadruple

Saudi Arabia fans experienced a sad night after Al-Akhdar lost to Spain in the second round of the 2026 FIFA World Cup group stage on Sunday night.

The Saudi Arabian team could not keep up with the Spanish matador throughout the match, so the match ended with a 4:0 victory for Spain.

According to the newspaper “Middle EastPrince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal, Minister of Sports of Saudi Arabia, met with the players immediately after the match.

Al-Faisal expressed his strong displeasure to the players of the Saudi Arabian national team, stressing that the unsuccessful performance in the match against Spain was unacceptable.

The Saudi newspaper quoted parts of Al-Faisal’s speech, where he told the players:

However, the sports minister instilled hope in the hearts of the players and tried to raise the team’s morale, stressing that “we must forget the Spain match, focus on Cape Verde and repay the fans with a win and qualification.”

The Saudi Arabian national team will meet Cape Verde at the end of the group stage, which will take place early next week.
