Hisense drastically cut the price of its RGB LED TV on the day of release

The Hisense UR9 – the first RGB LED TV released this year – is now available for less than it was originally revealed. The 65-inch UR9 is now $1,999, while the 75-inch model is $2,999 and the 85-inch is $3,999. (There’s no updated price yet for the 100-inch.) That’s between $1,500 and $2,000 off, depending on size.

When I have reviewed the UR9My biggest problem was the price. At $3,500 for a 65-inch, the LG G6 and Samsung S95H — the leading OLED TVs — were cheaper than the UR9, and OLED still outperforms what I’ve seen from RGB LEDs. Then, two days after my comment was published, Samsung has released the prices for its flagship R95H RGB LED TV, which was $300 less than the Hisense. I suspect that this price change from Hisense is partly in response to Samsung’s announcement.

Both Hisense and Samsung are currently the only TV companies with a 65-inch size available in their advanced RGB color scheme. LG’s MRGB95 starts at 75 inches, while the smaller TCL RM9L is 85 inches and both are more expensive than Samsung and Hisense – now a lot. (We are waiting for more information about Sony’s True RGB offered later this year.)

All TV companies drop their prices as long as TVs have been available, Hisense and TCL have historically dropped prices by several hundred dollars a month or two after release. This year it took TCL a week to drop the price of its 65-inch QM8L from $2,500 to $1,800. But the cut of $ 1,500 on the day of release is a new phase of aggressive pricing from Hisense.

The Hisense UR9 is a bright and stylish TV, now at a very affordable price. Its main competitor is TCL QM8L, which uses blue LED light and SQD technology as X11L instead of red, green, and blue LEDs. TCL may have similar performance – I’ll review one soon – but for someone looking to get the latest RGB LED technology, this price cut makes the UR9 a better option.
