He mocked Messi before the collapse… Piers Morgan insulted Argentina

The semi-final upset draws the ire of a controversial media personality

British journalist Piers Morgan insulted the Argentina national team after England’s defeat to Messi’s teammates in the semi-finals of the 2026 World Cup.

England took the lead through Anthony Gordon, then Argentina responded with two goals through Enzo Fernandez and Lautaro Martinez to seal a final berth as they prepare to face Spain next Sunday.

Morgan, who is a big fan of Cristiano Ronaldo, mocked the Argentina national team and its first star in the first half, saying: “Is Messi playing?” Not a single person Argentinian.

Minutes after England opened the scoring through Anthony Gordon, Morgan celebrated with another message criticizing manager Thomas Tuchel’s tactics.

But it wasn’t all happy hour for him as he concluded his series of posts about the match with his third one-word tweet since England’s defeat. “FFS” which is short for anger/vulgar slang in English.

He then tweeted again via X, insulting Argentina after a number of players raised a white flag with the words Argentina’s Malvinas (Falklands) written on it.

Two and a half months ago, Morgan got into a verbal spat with Argentina’s economy minister, Luis Caputo, after the latter said that if “Donald Trump wants to take the Falkland Islands from Britain, then we have to claim them.”
