Argentinian star Lionel Messi scored 8 goals in the current tournament of the 2026 World Cup.
Messi is looking forward to adding to his points tally when he takes on Switzerland in the World Cup quarter-finals tomorrow, Sunday.

He explained. “This number seems far, almost impossible, but if there is a player who has proven time and again that the word impossible does not exist in his dictionary, it is Messi.”
Just Fontaine played only one World Cup in his entire career, but it was exceptional by any standards.
The French striker scored 13 goals at the 1958 World Cup in Sweden, a feat he achieved in just six games, but it was not enough to give him the World Cup title as the final match pitted Sweden against Brazil and decided the samba team led by the legendary Pele.
As for Messi, he has scored 8 goals in 5 games so far, 3 goals in Algeria, 2 goals against Austria, one goal each against Jordan, Cape Verde and Egypt.
Interestingly, Messi also missed two penalties against Austria and Egypt, meaning he could have reached 10 goals so far.
