Pep Guardiola makes a quick exit ahead of the fateful match
Spanish coach Pep Guardiola, Manchester City’s head coach Pep Guardiola, gave an interview to the media before his team’s match against Bournemouth in the 37th (penultimate) round of the Spanish Premier League today.
During an interview broadcast on the BeIN Sports network, Guardiola was asked: To which the Spanish coach answered briefly. “No, I’m not affected,” before quickly walking away from the interview.
Yesterday, Monday, the English media confirmed that Guardiola will leave “Manchester City” after the end of the current season.
For his part, British newspaper The Sun reported this morning that the 55-year-old Spanish coach is extremely angry after the news of his departure was announced ahead of the fateful clash against Bournemouth.
Manchester City must beat Bournemouth to keep up their fight with Arsenal for the Premier League title, knowing that if manager Guardiola’s side fail today, be it a draw or a defeat, the Gunners will be officially crowned with a title they have missed since 2004.
Manchester City has 77 points and is second in the table, 5 points behind Premier League leaders Arsenal, who beat Burnley (1-0) yesterday, Monday.
It is noteworthy that according to some media reports, Manchester City has reached an agreement with former Chelsea coach Enzo Maresca to replace Guardiola starting next season.
Guardiola managed to win the Premier League title 6 times during his 10 years at Al-Ittihad Castle, in addition to the Champions League title for the first time in the club’s history in 2023, noting that this season he won the League and FA Cups.
