Uncertainty over the future of Egyptian star Mohamed Salah has increased after his agent Rami Abbas sparked speculation with a new Instagram photo of himself from the Turkish city of Istanbul, in a move that has opened the door to many questions about the Egypt captain’s next destination.

Rami Abbas posted a photo from Istanbul without revealing the reason for the visit or any further details, but his appearance in Turkey comes at a sensitive time, coinciding with ongoing disputes over the future of Mohamed Salah, who has yet to announce a new club after his retirement from Liverpool.

The arrival of Salah’s agent in Istanbul coincided with Turkish media reports confirming Galatasaray are close to agreeing terms with the Egypt captain in preparation for him to join the club next season in what will be one of the most high-profile deals of the summer transfer window.

Mohamed Salah brought the curtain down on his Liverpool career at the end of last season after nine successful and title-winning years with the Reds, embarking on a new phase in his professional career with interest from a number of big clubs.

Salah is expected to decide on his next destination in the next few days as talks continue and speculation mounts over which club he will wear next season.

Since announcing his departure from Liverpool, Mohamed Salah has received numerous offers from clubs in the Saudi League, the American League and the Italian League, in addition to Turkish interest which has increased in recent days.

Internationally, Mohamed Salah recently returned to Egypt following the conclusion of the national team’s 2026 World Cup campaign, after the Pharaohs bowed out of the tournament following a defeat to Argentina in the round of 16.
