Call to return to the ‘hard-won’ contract

As the conflict between the US and Iran continues, threatening to spread across the region and undermine the global economy, efforts to persuade Washington and Tehran to return to talks are intensifying.

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and his Pakistani counterpart Ishaq Dar called on Friday for a ceasefire and a resumption of talks, hoping to salvage a long-term ceasefire agreed last month.

The two countries have been trying to mediate the months-long conflict, which resumed fighting in the Strait of Hormuz a month after signing an agreement to end the conflict.
