Croatia defender Joško Guardiol has spoken about his future at Manchester City, refusing to rule out a move to Real Madrid, insisting a decision on his fate will be delayed until the 2026 World Cup finals, while insisting he feels comfortable at the English club.
“We’ve all seen the rumors spread everywhere, but I’m happy here at the club and I have everything I need. Before the injury I played almost all the games, but after the World Cup we will see what will happen.”
The Croatia international has spoken about his injury absence, stressing that he returned to action sooner than expected thanks to his determination to join the World Cup.
He explained that “I played more than I expected at the end of the season with City. The injury was difficult and required a long absence, but my biggest motivation was to come back and compete in the World Cup.”
Guardiol also touched upon the departure of Spanish coach Pep Guardiola from Manchester City, expressing his regret at the end of a decade-long era. He said: “He won a lot of titles and made a big impact. We learned a lot from him and became better players and better people because of him. Everyone will miss him, but I believe the new coach will be able to continue from where he left off.”
Guardiol concluded by referring to the protective mask worn by captain Luka Modric since his latest injury, explaining that modern models have become more advanced and comfortable, and he expects the Croatian star to be able to do without it for a few weeks as a positive indication that he is fully recovered before the upcoming benefits.
