Govee also included the book ‘White Supremacy’ on his website

Companies often have backgrounds in their images that are like costumes, but one of Govee’s aesthetic is raising eyebrows. Eagle eyes Edge a reader noticed that two copies of the book with “White Supremacy” emblazoned on the spine were included in a live photo on Govee’s website, in a photo that appears to show a child’s room.

You could be forgiven for thinking that this is the result of some failed AI experiment, or the work of a rogue developer, but what led to the image being shared on Govee’s website is unclear. (The image didn’t have C2PA and SynthID data when we checked, but that doesn’t mean it was generated by AI tools). A cursory look at archived pages shows that the image has been around ever since at least 11 April 2026.

We reached out to Govee to explain how this has happened. This image was removed from Govee’s website shortly after we submitted our inquiry.

The book in question appears to be a real book, however. It corresponds to a list of documents named “States of White Supremacy: Racism, Governance, and the United States.” This is more disturbing than expected, but still an unfortunate and questionable cover to be included without such stories on the content. Especially for a picture that inspires beautiful lighting for a child’s room? For what it’s worth, the other book in the picture (titled “Another book of Art”) is a real book by Jefferson Hack, although the cover is shown on the back.

Surprisingly, this is not the first time this has happened a real book has created a similar controversy. British hardware retailer B&Q apologized back in 2023 after this book was featured on its radiator cover page by another seller. B&Q said at the time that the image was “not captured by our visual system.”
