Gordon undergoes medical in Barcelona…and the player’s first statement

Barcelona are a step closer to completing one of their most high-profile summer deals after England international Anthony Gordon successfully passed a medical in preparation for officially joining the Catalan side next season.

Gordon arrived in Barcelona on a private jet with his agent before heading straight to a Barcelona hospital to undergo medical tests to complete the deal.

According to the Spanish “Mundo Deportivo”, the player has successfully completed the medical examination so that the official announcement of the deal became only a matter of time after Barcelona and Newcastle fully agreed on all the details.

The football player made his first statement immediately upon his arrival in the Catalan city, where he briefly told reporters: “I’m very happy,” clearly showing his excitement for a new experience in a Barcelona shirt.

Reports suggest the deal will cost Barcelona €70m, in addition to another €10m in incentives and variables linked to performance and tournaments, while the player will sign a five-year deal.

Gordon is one of the most prominent names to have caught the attention of manager Hans Flick last season, with the German coach expressing great admiration for his attacking capabilities, speed and movement on the flanks.
