The Algerian women’s national football team managed to win a valuable victory (2-0) over their Senegalese counterpart in the opening round of the first group of the Africa Cup of Nations held in Morocco for the third time in a row on Sunday evening, which will continue until August 16.

Marine Dafur scored the first goal for the Desert Warriors in the 42nd minute before Melissa Beattie put the finishing touches on the victory by adding a second goal in the 88th minute to level the tie and end the Teranga Lions’ hopes of overturning the draw.

With the win, Algeria jump to the top of Group A with three full points, while Senegal remain empty-handed and Morocco and Kenya face off in the same round-robin competition on Sunday evening.
