Hansi Flick’s Barcelona team played their last match at the Spotify Camp Nou this season against Real Betis last Sunday, and ended with a 3-1 victory for the Catalan side.
Football matches will not return to the Spotify Camp Nou until mid-August, with the Juan Gamper Cup, the date or opponent yet to be decided, followed by the start of the new La Liga season.
“Sport” newspaper explained that there will be more than 3 months without meetings, which will allow to speed up the pace of work inside “Camp Nou”.
The construction of the third runway at the stadium was fully completed a few weeks ago, as the concreting has been completed and welding work is currently underway, then the area will be waterproofed, the last step before the seating begins, some of which will begin to appear in the coming weeks.
Barcelona’s plan revolves around being able to use the entire third runway during the 2026-2027 season, and as was the case with runways one and two, the third runway will be opened in phases.
While the club is not announcing an official date due to previous delays, the plan is for October as the tentative date for this first increase in crowd capacity.
Barcelona believe the opening of the third stand will also be important in bringing away fans into the area and stopping some of the problems that have arisen in some matches, such as uncivil behavior and the throwing of bottles and objects.
