GOG apologizes for sending people Nazi symbols

The game is a fantasy theme set in a universe inspired by Slavic mythology and culture. So GOG included Slavic runes in its email promoting the theme, including the Sowilō symbol, which means “sun”. According to one of several GOG explanations, some platforms, including mobile phones, have rendered the rune as ϟ.

Adding confusion to the situation is the word posted on Reddit and confirmed GOG rep says:

“I also realize that placing two such runes next to each other would create a sad association with the symbols used by the Nazi regime.” This was discovered before we were distributed, and out of respect for local beliefs, the news was not sent to the Germans.”

This has led many users to question why the letter was sent to other areas or why the sign was added twice.

The developers of the game have also shown confusion, sending in a Reddit thread that, “We don’t know why GOG used symbols in their letters.
