The tests are power plant and go big. More power is better, right? Well, the thing to remember is that you have to carry these things around whether you are camping or traveling. That’s what I love about the Explorer 300—with a battery life of 292 hours, it’s powerful enough to run multiple devices, but it only weighs 7.5 pounds and is easy to carry.
It has a power draw of 300 watts, so you’ll want to make sure whatever you’re looking for power doesn’t need that much (it can handle 600W at its peak), but in my experience, it’s more than enough for appliances and small kitchen appliances (not electric kettles).
The Explorer 300 can charge from a socket, a USB-C charger, or, if you want to go off-grid, Jackery’s SolarSaga 40W Air Solar Panel, on sale for $99 ($30 off). Charging USB-C will take about three hours; the sun will be like five on a good sunny day.
We’ve found Jackery’s products to be reliable and durable, and you can expect to get ten years out of this battery. Go bigger than this and the move is debatable, but there are other options below. The warranty on this is three years, but you can extend it to five years Register with Jackery.
We have seen some Jackery products that are worth considering, although please note that we have not tested any of these products, such as the Explorer 2000 Plus—the brand’s reputation is strong, however, we have not tested any of the Jackery products that we have owned.
