Glastonbury Film Review – thirty years, the sunset of the hippy dream in all its glory | Video

With Glastonbury in a low year, anyone who needs a dose of West Country bacchanalia will have to accept this beautiful document, which has been remastered in 4K and re-released for 30 years. Shot at the festival in 1993, it serves as a headache for the digital overload of today: there are no mobile phones, company logos, thousands of people mercilessly live in the blessed years when the sun god smiled on the Glastonbury crowd. Shot partially in Panavision CinemaScope, some of the effects are beautiful, alternating between Mad Max-style ramshackle grandeur as he walks through the crowd, and arcadian tableaux that show the spirit of the hippy still alive in 1993. he intervenes in one shot. Perhaps even this film is part of the beginning of independence, the commodification and media coverage of the festival that pushed it to a new era. It is shocking to witness the original nature of grace here.
