The reported deal comes as months have passed regarding the future of the 10-star All-Star in Milwaukee.

NBA Most Valuable Player Giannis Antetokounmpo will join the Miami Heat from the Milwaukee Bucks, several US media outlets, including ESPN, reported on Monday.
Miami won a battle with the Boston Celtics to sign the 31-year-old Greek, a 10-year All-Star who won a championship with the Bucks in 2021.

ESPN reported that Miami will get Antetokounmpo and Bobby Portis in a deal that sends Tyler Herro, Kel’el Ware, Jaime Jaquez Jr and Kasparas Jakucionis to the other side.
Milwaukee will also receive three first-round picks, in exchange for a second-round pick, ESPN reported.

Antetokounmpo’s exit could last more than a year with uncertainty over whether he will finish his career in Milwaukee, the only franchise he has played for since being drafted in 2013.
The Greek international has openly expressed his frustration with the team’s management for not giving him the chance to play after suffering from a left knee injury.
Antetokounmpo insisted he was fit and ready to help with the playoff push despite being declared unavailable by the Bucks front office.
Speaking in April after Milwaukee failed to reach the playoffs at the end of the season at 32-50, Antetokounmpo also highlighted the team’s inability to build a team capable of making a playoff run.
“I feel like sometimes people don’t listen to me,” Antetokounmpo said. “They listen to sources. The main source is me. That’s how it is.”
