“Arsenal” is one step closer to the English Premier League championship
Arsenal fans were stunned by Manchester United legend Gary Neville’s harsh reaction to Ben White’s injury against West Ham on Sunday.
“Arsenal” is one step closer to the English Premier League championshipcelebrating a difficult victory (1-0) over “West Ham” at the Olympic Stadium in London within the 36th round of the competition.
The full-back went down after his legs collided with West Ham’s Crescencio Somerville, and although the England international was forced off the pitch injured and replaced by Martin Zobimendi, the former Manchester United defender was far from sympathetic.
Instead, he accused White of not rising to the challenge enough and said he needed to be stronger against the much smaller Somerville.
Neville said, according to The Sun newspaper. “Ben White just hangs his leg out there. This is a poor play from the right back. He’s up against Somerville, he’s got to be stronger than that.”
He continued. “He was hurt there. It could have been easily prevented if you had pushed in hard and hard. He extended his leg very weakly. You’re asking for trouble.”
“Arsenal” fans were not happy with the assessment, one said. “What is Gary Neville talking about? Ben White will be disappointed with himself for signing a 50/50 deal with Somerville.”
He continued. “He talks just to talk, what should he do?”
Another fan joked. “Can Arsenal fans start a petition to ban Gary Neville from all our matches?”
A third fan added: “It’s nice of Gary Neville to say that Ben White could have been braver because he was injured off the field.”
A visibly emotional White eventually left the field with his arm around a physiotherapist, clearly suffering from a right knee injury.
He was later seen in the substitutes box, appearing to be wearing a knee brace, before supporting his teammates for the remainder of the match.
The location of the injury will raise concerns about the possibility of ligament problems, especially as White looks to fight for a place in England’s World Cup squad next month.
