French Open 2026 results: Maja Chulinska shocks Anna Kalinskaya to continue her dream run by reaching the semi-finals.

In Paris, Chualinska played with infectious freedom and exuberant creativity, beating two seeds and Olympic champion Zeng Qinwei along the way.

She kept her composure well against Kalinskaya, who had to start again after letting a 5-1 lead slip in the opening set, before going down 3-2 in the opening set, reeling off five straight points to take the lead.

She then held her nerve in the second, recovering from a break point as she tried to qualify for victory before holding the first match point on Kalinskaya’s serve.

“I was definitely worried. Of course I was, but I try to focus on my work and my games,” Chulinska said.

“I don’t focus on confidence. I play with the best players in the world, so I don’t compare myself to them.”

Whatever happens in the semi-finals, Chualinska is now projected to reach the top 30 in the world rankings.

By reaching the semi-finals, she also won prize money worth £647,700 – more than doubling her total earnings of £642,400 in 10 days.
