Jakub Mencic collapsed on court after his second-round win and Novak Djokovic limped for nearly four hours. Another hot day in Paris forced the players to work hard at the French Open.

Czech Mencic was overcome with emotion and cramps as he fell to the floor after defeating Argentina’s Mariano Navone 6-3 2-6 6-4 1-6 7-6 (13-11) in four hours and 40 minutes.
Mencic – whose young career has been beset by flashes of brilliance – was struggling to get going and needed eight match points to close out the win.
After he fell to the floor, opponent Navon crossed the net to congratulate him and help him up, but Mencic was unable to move.
The 26th seed lay on the floor for several minutes and was attended by several medical personnel, who placed ice packs on his head, neck and chest to help.
An ice pack was placed on the floor for Mensik to rest his head on as a pillow.
Eventually, Mensik was helped to his feet and was able to walk off the court, only to struggle again as he made his way to the locker room.
The 20-year-old was then placed in a wheelchair and carried off – it remains to be seen whether he will recover for his third-round match against eighth seed Alex Di Minor on Friday.
Mencic was competing on one of the outdoor courts at Roland Garros, which has no shade.
