French Open 2026: Cameron Norrie’s rib injury disrupts first round preparations

Jacob Fearnley has played just two tournaments in the past two months due to a rib injury, while Francesca Jones has endured a “difficult” season in which she suffered a head injury in the gym.

Emma Radukanu delayed the start of her season with a leg injury that cut short her 2025 campaign, then returned in the last two months to a viral infection.

Katie Boulter has avoided injury this season, although she recently arrived at Roland Garros with the flu, while French Open qualifier Toby Samuel is winning on the Challenger Tour after missing most of 2024 with an arm injury.

The Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) audits injuries to British players internally and says there is no repeat pattern.

Jones said the flurry of problems was simply “bad luck”, pointing to injuries throughout the tour and suggesting the packed calendar was at the root of the problem.

“I don’t necessarily think there’s one reason for everyone,” Boulter said.

“Each one is an individual case. It seems like everything happened at once.”
