Four women accused Jared Leto of criminal sexual conduct when he was a teenager.

Four women have accused Oscar-winning actor and Thirty Seconds to Mars frontman Jared Leto of crimes, alleging the crimes took place when he was a teenager.

One of the women says she was sexually assaulted in a motel bathroom when she was 17. Another said a Hollywood star threatened to sexually assault her when she was 19 and was suddenly left alone in a hotel room with him.

A third alleges she had underage sex with the star in California when she was 17 – which is classified as statutory rape. Leto says she “left out” of the discussion about the age of consent being 18 in the United States.

A fourth woman claims Leto abused his celebrity status by making repeated sexually explicit phone calls when she was 16. She suggested they should have sex at least once.

She was subsequently sent a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) preventing her from speaking about her relationship with Leto, which the BBC had seen. However, she refused to sign.

Four more women say they received strange and often very sexual phone calls from Leto when they were young.

Another woman says that when she was 14, a security guard at a music festival ordered her to take off after making a lewd comment about her breasts during an autograph signing. The girl’s mother confronts Leto, but he repeats his comment, he’s a suspect.

A total of 10 women spoke to the BBC documentary – Jared Leto: Hollywood’s Dark Secret – with the nine of them sharing their stories publicly for the first time.

All the women say they met Letton between 2002 and 2016, when he was in his 30s and 40s. He is now 54 years old.

“This happened 25 years ago… it’s out of control,” said one of the victims.

The BBC has confirmed several accounts from women with friends and family who were told about their relationship with Leto at the time. In some cases, we have also seen images and messages supporting women’s accounts.

Two people who worked with Leto’s band for many years told the documentary that the crew was uncomfortable with Leto’s relationship with teenage girls, sometimes inviting them into his dressing room or to his recording studio.

“I think everyone thought the age gap was too big,” says one.

Despite repeated attempts to contact Jared Leto, the BBC has not responded to the allegations.
