For 5 million pounds… The English club is negotiating with Al-Ahly to include Imam Ashour.

The English club “Ipswich Town” claims to acquire the midfielder of Egypt and “Al-Ahly” national team Imam Ashour in the current summer transfer period.

Journalist Hani Hatut reported on Saturday evening on the Modern TV channel that negotiations between the management of the English club and Al-Ahly have officially begun to secure the services of the Pharaohs playmaker.

He explained that Ipswich Town’s envoy had made an opening bid of £5 million, equivalent to approximately 333 million Egyptian pounds, in an attempt to land the standout player at the 2026 World Cup.

Ashour scored Egypt’s opening goal of the tournament against Belgium and then scored again against Australia in the round of 32. He also featured against Argentina in the Round of 16, but injury forced him off at half-time.

Ipswich Town, recently promoted to the English Premier League, are set to play the 2026-2027 season in the senior division, although their history suggests that their rapid return to the second division has been the case in the past.

The race is not without European competition, with reports suggesting interest in Ashour from other clubs, notably Celtic and West Ham, leaving Al-Ahli with a difficult decision to make regarding their star’s future.
