Israeli airstrikes have killed at least five police officers and a 13-year-old boy, Gaza police say, as Israel continues to attack the Gaza Strip despite a “ceasefire” in place.
Al Jazeera’s Hani Mahmoud, reporting from Gaza City on Saturday, said the policemen were killed on the spot, and according to reports from al-Shifa hospital, a civilian in a nearby street was also killed. At least 10 other people were injured.

In its statement, the Gaza police union said that two rockets hit the police in the area of at-Twam in the north of Gaza.
“This is not unusual, it is part of a demonstration by the Israeli army, not only since the ceasefire began, but also before this, we are seeing the practice of deliberately targeting the police, local security personnel and law enforcement agencies in Gaza,” said Mahmoud.
The shelling of the police station comes as 10,000 police officers in Gaza have emerged as a — a focal point for negotiations to advance US President Donald Trump’s plan on Gaza.
The war that Israel launched after the Hamas attack on October 7, 2023 was stopped by a ceasefire on October 10, 2025, but the Israeli army has been attacking Gaza almost every day since then and maintaining a stable security.
Israel’s terrorist war on the enclave has killed at least 72,775 Palestinians, and 883 people have been killed since the ceasefire began.
The bodies of eight Palestinians, along with 29 wounded people, arrived at hospitals across Gaza in the past 48 hours, according to the Gaza Ministry of Health.
Police attacks in Gaza add to the threat of aid distribution as the Palestinian Authority continues to struggle with the humanitarian crisis.
Israel has imposed severe restrictions on the entry of humanitarian aid in Gaza although the ceasefire was supposed to increase the flow of goods into Palestinian territory.
“This is part of the plan to push the chaos in Gaza to another level of chaos, and to end whatever is left of civilian rule,” Mahmoud said, adding that it was adding to the loss of power.
The strike would make it more difficult to get aid trips to areas of greatest need and “increase opportunities for theft and robbery”, he said.
Meanwhile, in recent days, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) has said that Palestinian children in Gaza are suffering from the influx of Palestinian refugees. skin diseases due to the abundance of pests, such as rats, lice, fleas and mites.
UNRWA said that health teams are able to treat about 40 percent of the thousands of cases, adding that “in many cases these can be easily managed with simple measures, but they are not available”.
“In Gaza, essential medicines are in short supply and many children are left without the care they need,” UNRWA said.
