Media reports have revealed that Saudi club Al-Hilal have refused to sign the first deals of the summer transfer window due to the high fees demanded by the clubs.
It was previously reported that Al Hilal are aiming to sign Englishman Mason Greenwood, a professional at French side Olympique Marseille who previously joined Al Nasr captain Cristiano Ronaldo at Manchester United.
According to a report by French website Foot Mercato, Al Hilal have already contacted Olympique de Marseille to discuss signing Greenwood, but the French club’s financial demands halted talks at an early stage.
The report explains that the management of Marseille demanded €120 million to confirm the sale of the player, a figure that Al Hilal considered excessive, prompting them to refuse to complete the deal and not enter into advanced negotiations.

The website noted that uncertainty still surrounds the budgets of Saudi clubs in the 2026 summer transfer market, forcing many clubs to be more cautious about expensive deals.
Al Hilal’s stance confirms that the club has no intention of entering into unaccounted financial bids, despite its desire to bolster its ranks with international names who can make a difference locally and on the continent.

It is expected that Al Hilal will continue to explore other options in the coming period, looking for attacking reinforcements that suit the team’s needs and financial capabilities after the failure of negotiations to bring in Greenwood.
The England star remains one of the hottest names in the European transfer market this summer, waiting to learn his next destination after Al Hilal pulled out of the deal at the moment.
