Saudi Arabia’s Al Ahly have decided the fate of their Algerian star Riyad Mahrez ahead of the 2026 summer transfer window.
Mahrez, 35, is under contract with Al-Ahly until the summer of 2027 after he joined the Saudi Arabian side in the summer of 2023 from Manchester City.
Al-Riyadiah newspaper reports that Al-Ahly is set to fire some of its foreign professionals soon after the end of the current season, based on a direct suggestion from technical director Mathias Jaise.
He continued. “The German coach has asked the couple, Enzo Meo and Mathieu Dames, to leave in the summer of 2026.
Al-Riyadiya explained that the idea of Riyad Mahrez leaving is not on Al-Ahly’s table.
He emphasized. “Yasla reject the idea of ignoring Mahrez as they view the Algerian star as one of the pillars on which Al-Ahli will build next season.”
Mahrez participated in 42 matches for Al-Ahly this season, scoring 8 goals and 13 assists.
