Firefox’s new home page widgets are helping me focus

I started Firefox this morning to get the new blog posts on my site. The widgets coming out right now add games, time slots, timer, and lists, which are some of my favorite features of Firefox over the years. I usually do Think Friend I open it on my phone when I need a timer, and I use Google Tasks for my lists. Now I can browse with the same tools every time I open a new Firefox tab instead.

My phone’s home screen has useful widgets, so it’s a plus to have a time and list view on my browser – it adds functionality and combines tools I already use elsewhere. The calculator is a bit small, but having it on the home page is perfect for me so it doesn’t seem like it’s distracting, but not so buried that I forget about it.

You can add or remove any widgets from the home page, and there are additional settings to add. The timer is preset to 25/5 Pomodoro style, with a 25-minute timer and a 5-minute break, but you can change both. There is also information to choose when the timer has finished.

New widgets were mentioned in the release text as a change coming between the recently released Firefox 151 and 152, and this week, Mozilla launched way about other changes along the way, such as Project Nova revise.
