Fire crews have ‘surrounded’ a large Cairgorms wildfire.

A large volume pump was used to pump water from Loch Morlich to support firefighting efforts.

The Cairngorms National Park Authority (CNPA) said on Sunday that “optimism is growing that people on the ground are making valiant efforts to fight the wildfires.”

However, he added that the incident is alive and the road closure will continue until the firefighting operation is completed.

The public is asked to stay away from Glenmore, Abernethy, Loch Morlich and the surrounding area.

Homes and businesses, including campgrounds and a ski resort in the Glenmore Forest Park area, have already been evacuated for safety reasons.

According to SFRS, six units of furniture and special assets, including multi-purpose vehicles, are on site.

Videos from the response on Saturday show areas where helicopters have damaged water.
