One word comes to mind when describing Curtis’ display against St Mirren: clinical. He had three shots, two on target, two goals and good.
He showed regular game quality for Rangers early in Russell Martin’s tenure, scoring three times in the Englishman’s first six games, including Champions League qualification.
He scored four goals in Kilmarnock’s last six games under McCann and Billy Dodds.
Curtis was carried on by his fellow players as the squad received a post-match reception from a significant traveling support.
A player-of-the-match performance with his double, which took the game away from St Mirren, he was a constant nuisance.
And his numbers show a player who is happy – 45 touches, 24 passes with around 67% accuracy, two key passes, one tackle and two fouls won.
The most important column is, of course, the number of goals. And his brace has gone a long way towards top-flight survival for his adopted side.
Afterwards, he paid a post-match tribute to McCann and Dodds, his teammates and the fans who took him to their hearts with their own special song.
He says Rangers are getting better players back when his loan ends next weekend and he will be sad to leave Rugby Park.
“I must say it was a beneficial loan both on and off the field,” he said.
