Where is it held?
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially announced the draw date for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers scheduled for Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda.
Date and place of the draw
CAF said in a statement on its official website that the draw will be held next Tuesday at the Confederation of African Football’s headquarters in Egypt on October 6 and will begin at 3pm Cairo time (12:00 GMT).
He also noted that the draw will be broadcast live on CAF’s official page on YouTube.
24 teams in the final
The next edition of the Africa Cup of Nations will be held from 19 June to 17 July 2027, with 24 teams participating, and will be the first edition to be held in 3 countries.
Qualification system
The 48 teams will be divided into 12 groups, where the first and second places from each group will go directly to the finals.
Co-hosts Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania also guaranteed their qualification to the tournament regardless of their performance in the qualifying rounds, meaning only one additional team from their groups will advance to the qualifiers.

CAF said the teams participating in the draw are: Algeria, Angola, Benin, Botswana, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, Cape Verde, Central Africa, Comoros, Congo, Democratic Republic of Congo, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Gabon, Gambia, Gabon, Gabina, Gabina d’Ivoire, Kenya, Lesotho, Liberia, Libya, Madagascar, Malawi, Mali, Mauritania, Morocco, Mozambique, Namibia, Niger, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Somalia, South Africa, South Sudan, Sudan, Zabab, Tanzania, Togo, Tanzania and Togo.
Dreams of historical qualification
CAF explained that Central African teams Chad, Eritrea, Somalia and South Sudan are aiming to qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations finals for the first time in their history.
Qualification schedule
The qualifying rounds were divided into 3 rounds, each round comprising two rounds, with the first two rounds taking place during the international break, which will last from 21 September to 6 October 2026.
The third and fourth rounds will take place from November 9 to 17, 2026, and the fifth and sixth rounds from March 22 to 30, 2027.
