The features of the Round of 16 of the 2026 World Cup began to emerge after the conclusion of the third day of the second round of the ongoing tournament in the United States of America, Canada and Mexico.

So far, 7 teams have secured their places in the 1/8 finals: Canada, Brazil, Paraguay, Morocco, Norway, France, Mexico.

Morocco also qualified for the Netherlands 3-2 on penalties, while Norway followed after beating Ivory Coast 2-1, France 3-0 Sweden and Mexico 2-0 Ecuador.

The Arabs have secured one place so far, with Morocco qualifying for the role, while Egypt and Algeria look to have a good chance of strengthening this presence.

Among the seven finalists, there are only two European teams, France and Norway, compared to the Latin pair of Brazil and Paraguay, in addition to two each from North America, Canada and Mexico, while Morocco represents the African continent.

The Round of 32 will continue over the coming days – Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday – to decide another 9 cards to complete the deal for the 16 qualifying teams.
