Family wants investigation after US man killed by ICE in Texas | Donald Trump News

The family of a man who was killed by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent in Texas has called for an investigation into the matter.

Wednesday’s appeal came a day after ICE agent Lorenzo Salgado Araujo was shot dead in Houston during a traffic stop, the latest killing by immigration enforcement officers under US President Donald Trump’s administration.

Salgado Araujo’s family said he was working at the time of his murder, driving workers to a construction site in the area. They said they may have been afraid that the people in the unmarked cars who stopped him wanted to steal his weapons.

He also said that Mexico has been in the US for 35 years and is working to become legal. He had no criminal record and worked hard to support his three sons in the United States, all citizens of the United States.

“He didn’t deserve to die. He didn’t deserve to be called the ‘Mexican shot and killed by ICE’,” Ronaldo Salgado said at a press conference.

“He should have lived a quiet life like Lorenzo Salgado Araujo, a husband, father and job creator for many men who also want the American dream,” he said.

The US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) said Salgado Araujo tried to shoot the ICE agent, who opened fire in response. Before that happened, he said Salgado Araujo’s car hit an ICE vehicle.

No video or photos of the incident have been released, although an onlooker documented the aftermath.

DHS said Salgado Araujo was targeted by agents because he was living in the U.S. without documents.

Although the Trump administration initially said it would only target criminals through mass deportations, it quickly reiterated that it considers anyone in the US without a document a criminal. Entering the US illegally is a felony, not a criminal, violation of the law.

Human rights groups have accused immigration officials of using “net” tactics to force them to comply with their detentions. The Trump administration has denied that such divisions exist.

Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday, the president of the League of United Latin American Citizens, Roman Palomares, said that the violation of immigration has created a country that is “open season for Latinos” and the police who think that “they can shoot and explain later”.

Many of the Texas murders are similar to the murder of Renee Nicole Good in Minneapolis, Minnesota in January. DHS officials initially said that Mr. Good, a US citizen, was trying to shoot an ICE agent when he was shot, although video appeared to show him driving around the agent, who shot him while riding in the side of his car.

Just days later, Alex Pretti, 37, was fatally shot by a Border Patrol agent and a Customs and Border Protection officer while searching for immigration enforcement documents in Minneapolis.

Little has emerged from the government’s investigation into the murder, which took place within the city’s security perimeter. In a rare move, the Justice Department has rejected a civil rights investigation into the murder of Nicole Good.

‘Working to give us the American dream’

Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday, Ronaldo Salgado spoke about looking for his father at work after his mother was told something bad had happened.

During his investigation, he was shown a video of his father who was seriously injured.

Salgado said:

“After almost 35 years of working to give us the American dream, he decided to start achieving his American dream through the work permit,” Salgado said.

“We dotted every I, crossed every T, filled out every document, and attended every meeting.

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum also condemned the killing, saying she was considering legal action or a petition to the United Nations.

“There has been another tragic death of one of our friends in the United States as a result of arrest, although their only ‘crime’ has not been recorded,” Sheinbaum said.

The shooting was the eighth known fatality during an encounter with immigration officials since the Trump administration cracked down on immigration.
