The blast took place on Saturday near the entrance gate to the offices of the Rangers, sources told Al Jazeera.

Pakistani media say the road is close to several universities and the Pakistan Meteorological Department.

Pakistan’s Dawn newspaper reported that special forces, including the Rapid Response Force and police commandos, were dispatched to the area.

It added that the area has been cordoned off by police and military personnel.

Arguments are said to be ongoing, sources told Al Jazeera.
