On Monday, local authorities confirmed an explosion at a fireworks factory in Naxxar, Malta.
The Malta Police Force said that two people who were nearby when the incident took place suffered minor injuries and were taken to hospital.
After the sound of the explosion, large plumes of smoke can be seen rising into the sky.
An investigation is underway and Prime Minister Robert Abella said his thoughts are with those affected.
