He is 6ft 6in tall, active in his box, decent with his feet, can make a big save and has a lot of room for improvement in key areas.

Lolichon, who keeps in touch with Jaouen’s camp, even compared his profile to when he first saw Courtois when he was 17.

Instead of throwing him straight in, though, which would be “a bit dangerous,” Lolichon suggested Newcastle First will look to protect the “giant”.

“I think its purpose Newcastle Observing new levels in his first season for him,” he said.

“Ewen was number one in Ligue 2 last season, but the Premier League is at the top. The intensity, the quality of the players, a big change but Ewen has a very quick observation and ability to adapt.

“He’s very professional. He’s not a guy who talks all the time – he’s very discreet. What I’m saying is a bit old-fashioned, but he needs to feel loved around him.”
